After a large number of departures this summer Reading Women boss Kelly Chambers has moved to bolster her squad with the signing of Gemma Evans from Bristol City.
Evans fits the criteria of a new Reading signing, she’s experienced at FAWSL level, can play in multiple positions and is a Welsh international! Evans joins other Welsh footballers at Reading including Bethan Roberts, Rachel Rowe, Lily Woodham and Tash Harding.
Gemma Evans is a strong defender who can play at both centre-half and at left-back. Emma Mitchell was one of the better signings Reading made last summer and impressed at left-back, however she will be away for much of the season as she is on maternity leave. Evans will provide versatile cover across the back-line that could prove invaluable for Reading this season.
Evans is a former Yeovil player and has played fifty-one times for Bristol City over three seasons. She is also a regular starter for the Wales international team alongside Tash Harding and Rachel Rowe.
