Angharad James played her last game for Reading Women on Sunday against Chelsea. It concluded a season for the club that’s seen her play in every single minute of the FAWSL season.
James has been an integral member of a Reading team that has finished in a respectible midtable position in the FAWSL. While she only scored one goal for the club, her strongest attributes are defensive. She leads the entire division in number of tackles made having made 46 across the whole season.
The 26 year old former Everton and Bristol Academy player has amassed over 80 caps for Wales and has experience beyond her years. She’ll be a player sorely missed by Reading who also have to contend with the loss the considerable figures of Jess Fishlock and Fara Williams from the centre of their midfield.
James is destined for the United States with North Carolina Courage who were NWSL champions in 2018 and 2019. She’ll get to lock horns with fellow Welsh international and former Reading player Jess Fishlock who also plays in the NWSL for Seatte Reign.
