Thursday night saw a familiar face return to Bracknell Town as the Isthmian League South Central Division One side unveiled attacker Joe Grant.
The winger formed a devastating wing partnership with Seb Bowerman during a three-year spell at Larges Lane where he played 133 times scoring 68 goals as the Robins rose from the Uhlsport Hellenic League to the Isthmian League.
Grant was a key member of the squad that reached the Isthmian League play-off final in 2018/19 and made the step up to the Vanarama National League South Slough Town that summer.
Unfortunately, an injury at the start of the season limited his chances and he went out on loan at Hayes & Yeading United where he scored an important FA Cup goal in a win over Poole Town. As well as Hayes, Grant also spent time with Hartley Wintney.
Bracknell boss Bobby Wilkinson had previously told Football in Berkshire he wasn’t looking to add to his squad but it almost goes without saying, when a player of Grant’s undoubted ability becomes available you snap him up.
On announcing the news on Twitter, Wilkinson said through the Robins accounts: “Joe is a proven goalscorer who I’ve watched for a while now. I’m delighted to get my man and bring a local lad back to the club.”
The Robins now have a run of tough pre season fixtures starting with National League South Dorking Wanderers at home on Saturday (3pm).
