The Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East will be missing one of its star on-field attractions in 2020/21 after it was confirmed Fabian Driffill was headed out of Holyport.
The young striker was crowned Football in Berkshire Player of the Season on Friday night and will now step up two levels to test himself in the Isthmian League South Central Division One with Marlow.
Over three seasons with Holyport, Driffill scored 82 goals in 105 games and would undoubtedly – were it not for the early curtailment of the season – fired Port to promotion at the end of the 2019/20 season.
Writing on Twitter, Driffill said: “Very happy to be signed by Marlow FC it’s a big challenge for me but hoping to continue my goal scoring record at this level.”
Announcing the move on the Marlow website, manager Mark Bartley said he’d had his eye on the forward for some time: “Fabian has been on the radar for a while, with him continuously catching the eye for Holyport, and I have had strong feedback on him from people who’s opinion I really value. I have been in dialogue with Derek Sweetman over at Holyport since last season, and I wanted to thank him for his input. Since the first conversation with Sweets, it was clear that he was only interested in what was best for the player and I think he should be commended for that.”
