Luke Williams joins Hellenic League Division One East side for 2019/20

Midfielder back in Hellenic League

Former Hungerford Town and Binfield midfielder Luke Williams has signed for Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East side AFC Aldermaston, the Atom Men have confirmed.

Most recently at Swindon Supermarine, Williams joins a squad that finished third last season in Division One East behind champions Burnham and Thame Rangers.

This season though there should be four promotion spots available in the Division and the signing of Williams clearly suggests the club are going to go for it.

Among the responses on social media, former Bracknell Town and Binfield midfielder James Suarez said: “What a signing that is by the way best player I’ve played with nearly single handedly won us the league.”

Binfield finished second in the 2010/11 Hellenic Premier Division with Williams, according to chairman Bob Bacon a key component.

He said: “Luke played for us from about the Christmas [after joining from Woodley United] and he was a stand out player who’s contribution was measurable by games that we won with him in the side”.

Williams joined then National League Hayes & Yeading United in the summer and also played for Hungerford in the National League South.

The Atom Men have had a busy few days signing players including striker Ryan Adams and centre back Adam Bygrave.
