Combined Counties League Division One Eversley & California pulled off a bit of a shock on Tuesday night beating leaders Windsor & Eton.
The Boars beat their visitors 3-2 thanks to goals from Mark Taylor, Kenny Anthony and Will May with top scorer May netting the winner six minutes from time.
Of course, the game marked a return to his former club for Windsor boss Matty Angell and things were certainly going his way when Oliwier Bach scored after just eight minutes.
Taylor and Anthony gave the Boars a 2-1 lead before Samuel Whitehead levelled on 74 minutes, only for May to steal a late winner.
There had perhaps been a hint of the goals to come in the game, at the start of October the sides had shared nine goals with Windsor emerging 5-4 winners at Stag Meadow.
The defeat is unlikely to dent the confidence of a Windsor brimming with both goals and talent following the end of a 19 game winning run. Hilltop – their Step 5 visitors in the FA Vase on Saturday – will beware the backlash.
Berkshire midweek headlines
Elsewhere in midweek, the Football in Berkshire curse struck Binfield again as the Moles were beaten 2-1 at Uxbridge in the Isthmian League South Central Division One.
After winning six games in a row, FiB ran a feature on the club’s impressive run this week only to see hopes of it being extended dashed at Honeycroft. Rahzir Smith-Jones had given Binfield the lead but George Moore and Joshua Addae either side of half-time put paid to hopes of another three points.
In the same division, an Anas Igozouln double and one from Harry Grant were enough to give Ascot United a 3-0 win over Hartley Wintney.
Scott Davies was – as the kids say – doing Scott Davies things on Tuesday night for Slough Town at Arbour Park as the Rebels beat Bath City 3-0. Davies hit a trademark free-kick on the half hour and was joined on the scoresheet by Lexus Beeden and John Gilbert.
Sandhurst Town meanwhile earned a very creditable win at home to Fleet Town in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South. The Fizzers beat the Hampshire side 4-2 with a Maurice Black double and goals each for Harvey Seeman and Mason Slade.
Reading City meanwhile suffered a 1-0 defeat on the road at Ardley United.
