Maidenhead United were taken to a replay on Saturday afternoon in Somerset as Southern League Premier Division South Taunton Town held the Magpies in a 1-1 draw.
Reece Smith was on target for Maidenhead in the 40th minute to give Alan Devonshire’s side a 1-0 lead and passage through to the FA Cup First Round Proper, only for the hosts David Duru to level in the 76th minute.
A replay will take place at York Road on Tuesday night with the draw for the First Round Proper on Monday night at 7pm on BBC 2.
Berkshire’s other representative in the competition, Slough Town, bowed out with a 2-1 defeat at National League Woking.
Slavi Spasov opened the scoring for the Rebels inside the opening 10 minutes of the game with a far post header only to see the hosts level just before half time.
Spasov had chances in the first half and a penalty appeal waved away, but controversy surrounded Woking’s winner with Harry Beautyman appearing to foul Scott Davies in the build up only for the goal to stand.
Davies was booked for protesting and subsequently sent-off after he was substituted for Sam Evans.
Slough had chances to level but a feeling of injustice was in the air as Davies said in his post-match comments: “I feel a massive sense of injustice, I cannot believe what we’ve been served up, there’s not even an excuse for it and I’ve obviously got to be careful what I say.”
