As tough early tests in a new division go, Langley away in the Combined Counties League Division One will certainly be up there – but it’s a test Windsor & Eton passed with flying colours.
Matt Angell’s side came away from Honeycroft – where Langley groundshare with Uxbridge – with all three points and a five-goal boost to their ‘Goals For’ column.
The opener came from Oliwier Bach on 38 minutes from outside the box, beating goalkeeper Ryan Burke at the near post and Ben Catt headed home across the face of goal before the break to make it 2-0.
Windsor added a third straight after the break, awarded to Sean McDonnell but the video replay would suggest a heavy hint of own goal about it.
Adam Crocker had the final say with a brace, the first on 69 minutes receiving a cross-penalty box pass that was slotted home and the second, a calmly converted penalty on 90 minutes.
Langley did pull one back on 84 minutes through George Dewhurst, a well worked move resulting in a header back across goal with substitute Dewhurst converting.
Windsor’s start to the season doesn’t get any easier, or quieter, with trips to Befont and Yateley United on Tuesday and Saturday before the visit of town rivals Windsor to Stag Meadow on Bank Holiday Monday.
East Berkshire headlines

Joao Jardim was on target for Wokingham Town as the Sumas earned their first win of the season, upsetting Egham Town at the Runnymede Stadium to take all three points and ease a little pressure following an opening two defeats.
A Dan Roberts double set Bracknell Town off and running in the Southern League Premier Division South – the Robins first three points of the season came at Frome Town after a draw and defeat in the opening matches.
In the Vanarama National League, Maidenhead United are still searching for a first win after going down 2-1 at Solihull Moors – Shawn McCoulsky on the scoresheet for the Magpies, while Slough Town lost 1-0 at Salisbury.
