Reading City and Holyport record FA Cup heroics to progress

Cityzens and Port advance with come-from-behind wins

A very mixed bag of results across Berkshire in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round but both Reading City and Holyport provided the requisite magic for the famous competition.

City were a goal ahead on the half hour through Tyler D’Cruz in the first half but the hosts levelled almost immediately and were ahead on 57 minutes of the first cup tie of the season.

Enter Tyler Robinson, who made it 2-2 on 81 before raising the roof with a finish after being played through by Josh Baines.

Holyport also had work to do at Hartpury University where they were a goal down early in the second half with former Windsor captain Luke Appleton levelling and Alfie Pem getting the winner from the penalty spot on 88 minutes sparking joyous scenes.

Elsewhere Wallingford & Crowmarsh and Virginia Water also advanced courtesy of 3-1 and 2-0 wins respectively but Ascot United face a replay after a 1-1 draw at Ardley United while Tadley Calleva’s fixture at home was postponed.

A reminder, Wokingham & Emmbrook’s FA Cup tie at home to Cinderford Town is on Sunday afternoon at Lowther Road.
