Wokingham & Emmbrook’s resurgence in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division North continued on Saturday at Reading City, but it took a last gasp strike from James Clark to secure the three points.
All the goals in this 3-2 win came in the last half an hour with Jack Mullan scoring first for the Sumas before Nathan Mindomba made it 2-0 seven minutes later.
That lead last moments though as Alfie Grant scored a header from a corner and the Cityzens comeback was complete when Ezio Touray headed the equaliser for Simon Johnson’s side on 77 minutes.
Things turned against Reading in the final five minutes with Touray sin-binned and manager Johnson dismissed before Clark turned in Will Shaw’s left-wing cross at the far post.
The win doesn’t get the Sumas out of the bottom-three but they do keep pace with recently resurgent Tadley Calleva and Burnham who are one and two points ahead of them.

Ascot United got back to winning ways in the league, buoyed no-doubt by the big midweek County Cup win against Newport Pagnell Town, and beat St Panteleimon 3-1 thanks to a Harry Laflin double and a strike from Taylor Morgan while Holyport suffered a 3-0 defeat at Tadley Calleva and Virginia Water were beaten 4-1 at Burnham.
Windsor posted an impressive home win on Saturday, beating Spelthorne Sports 3-1 at Stag Meadow. Danny Horscroft scored in the 36th minute while goals from Dave Hoar and Lindell Stewart off the bench in the second half wrapped things up.
