Vanarama National League Maidenhead United’s wait for a league win goes on after a 2-0 defeat at Altrincham on Saturday.

The Magpies won the opening two games of the season against Halifax Town and Dover Athletic but since then have not managed to take three points in their following eight matches despite encouraging points against high-flying Grimsby Town and struggling Yeovil Town.

The game was goalless at half-time but the home side scored after 56 minutes and any hopes of a late equaliser were extinguished when Tom Peers made it 2-0 in injury time.

Slough Town 1-3 Ebbsfleet United

More frustration for Slough Town on Saturday in the Vanarama National League South as Ebbsfleet United left Arbour Park with all three points.

Ben Harris had given the Rebels the lead in the first-half after just 16 minutes but ‘Fleet levelled just before the break from the penalty spot. Lee Martin made it 2-1 on 70 minutes and it was 3-1 eight minutes later.

Dartford 1-0 Hungerford Town

Manager Danny Robinson said his side ‘had to suffer through the game’ but that they rode most waves and defended well in the fixture at title-chasing Dartford.

The Crusaders had held their opponents until Ade Azeez broke the deadlock on the hour but managed to weather the remainder of the storm in a game Darts boss Steve King said he was disappointed was ‘only 1-0’.

Off the pitch, Nicky Chambers was awarded the National Leagues Volunteer of the Month for August and September. Congratulations Nicky!
