Langley’s brilliant run in the FA Youth Cup is over after a 2-1 defeat at Hayes & Yeading United on Monday night.

The East Berkshire side had beaten Rayners Lane (8-1), North Greenford United (4-2) and most impressively Maidenhead United (4-3) on their way to the Third Qualifying Round but couldn’t find a way past the West London side.

Langley, of the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League Delphian Division have yet to start their domestic campaign due to their FA Cup involvement that has seen them play four times and score 17 goals, conceding just seven in the process.

Langley, along with Reading City were two of 18 sides to reach a Third Qualifying Round that including teams rep[resenting Woking, Dover Athletic and Barnet as well as North Shields, City of Liverpool and AFC Blackpool.

Reading City (represented by JMA Reading FC) did come through their tie though, winning 5-1 at Gloucester City with one of the goals from Connor Richardson foxing the VEO camera tracking – an audacious strike as it was from the halfway line.

We await the draw for the Fourth Qualifying Round!
