The Allied Counties League programme and this week’s FA Youth Cup ties were overshadowed by the tragic news emerging from Frimley Green FC, the Surrey club announcing that one member of their Under 18 squad has died with a number of his team-mates in intensive care following a road traffic collision in Tongham on Saturday night.

All at Football In Berkshire sends their condolences to Frimley Green FC and to the families of the young men affected by this upsetting incident.  The Green’s Allied Counties South Division fixture with Wokingham & Emmbrook on Monday night was understandably postponed.

In the Central Division fixtures which did take place on Monday, Windsor triumphed 4-1 in an East Berkshire derby with winless Slough Town.  Thomas Jansen scored a hat-trick for the Royalists, who moved to the top of the table with that result.  That completed successive victories for Windsor following their 2-1 triumph at previous leaders Didcot Town the previous Monday.

On the same night as that Berkshire derby at Stag Meadow, Thatcham Town threw away a lead given to them by Jacob Daszkiewicz against Hartley Wintney at the Stacatruc Stadium in the same division.  Thatcham conceded three second-half goals to give The Row their first three-point haul of the season despite a second goal for the Kingfishers on the night, scored by Harry Gardner.  Thatcham had enjoyed a far more enjoyable outing the previous Thursday, triumphing by a decisive 5 goal margin at Arbour Park against ailing Slough.

In the South Division, Ascot United remain unbeaten heading into their Thursday night FA Youth Cup tie at Marlow.  Virginia Water are also yet to taste defeat in the Southern Section and they will also travel in the Youth Cup 2nd Qualifying Round tie where they are due to face Worthing.  Elsewhere in the Youth Cup the tie between Maidenhead United and Langley was rained off on Tuesday night and has been rearranged for Monday 4th October at York Road.
