Slough Town suffered a second successive home league defeat against St Albans City on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors went ahead on 19 minutes after a good finish from Liam Sole, and this was quickly followed by a second goal two minutes later after in-form forward Shaun Jeffers went one-on-one and slotted the ball past Jonathan North.
Slough fought back and reduced the deficit when Ben Harris found the back of the net on 31 minutes with a tidy finish and Town continued to push for an equaliser, and this came just before half-time when Worsfold’s low cross found Ben Harris for his second goal of the game.
A huge chance for the home side went begging on 50 minutes after young striker Joe Lawal had just the keeper to beat, but fired his shot straight at the St Albans goalkeeper.
Slough Town continued their positive play and pushed for a winner – Goueth, Derry and Worsfold all with decent opportunities but the game-defining moment came in the 79th minute as St Albans won a controversial penalty after an Akinola was judged to have fouled just inside the penalty area, Jeffers dispatched the spot-kick into the bottom right corner.
A disappointing result and a tough one to take for the Rebels who’s afternoon was compounded by the news Ryan Bird had ruptured his patella tendon in his knee.
