Windsor’s flying start to the 2021/22 season came to a halt on Saturday as the Royalists were beaten 4-1 at home by Edgware Town in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division North.

A point would have put Mark Cooper’s side top-of-the-table in the opening rounds of this fledgling season after three impressive straight wins against Reading City, Wembley and CB Hounslow United.

Edgware took an early 2-0 lead at Stag Meadow before Charlie Losasso pulled one back for Cooper’s side but two more goals for the visitors after the break handed Windsor their first league defeat of the season.

Speaking of Wembley, the London side were at Holyport on Saturday and took all three points at Summerleaze in a 4-2 win with Usman Lalustani scoring twice for the Port and Tadley Calleva remain searching for their first win of the season after a 3-0 defeat at home to Egham Town.

In Division One, a full schedule of fixtures saw Langley earn a late 1-1 draw at home to AFC Hayes despite having two players sent off, including reportedly their goalkeeper.

Rodgers Omondi scored for Langley in the 89th minute after Dean Clark had scored from the penalty spot on 74 minutes.

Elsewhere, a Ross McKernan goal earned Eversley & California a 1-1 draw at home to British Airways and strikes from Ricardo Benjamin and Kingston Kofi Nyanney saw Wallingford Town draw 2-2 at Enfield Borough.

AFC Aldermaston suffered a heavy 9-2 defeat at home to London Lions after their enforced late start to the season, goalscorer Michael Porter was sent off along with Jannai Scott for the Atom Men while Chalvey Sports and Woodley United were both beaten 5-1 at home by FC Deportivo Galicia and Hilltop respectively.

Berks County were also beaten by five goals, but scored two in return in a 5-2 defeat to Rayners Lane while Sandhurst Town’s trip to Bedfont & Feltham was postponed as a mark of respect to the home sides Vice Chairman Alan Hale who sadly passed away.
