Ascot United left it late, and did it the hard way, but the Yellamen got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 4-3 win at Redhill in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division.

1-0 down at half time, Jamie Tompkins side equalised three times in the game before eventually taking the lead but it must have looked – even to the Ascot faithful – like being a third straight defeat when in the last 15 minutes James Haworth was sent off for handball on the line and Redhill converted the penalty to make it 3-2.

Taylor Morgan had levelled that first-half deficit and Aiden Higgs had already made it 2-2 at that point before Morgan was on target again for the 10-men to make it 3-3 with 10 minutes to go.

Step forward Harry Laflin, always one for an important goal heading the winner with just minutes left on the clock. You can watch the goal here:

In Division One, another three points for Sandhurst Town who beat Bedfont & Feltham 1-0 at The Orchard making it two wins from three for Ian Selley and Ryan Northmore.

Liam Hind got the only goal of the game for the Fizzers who featured new signings Karl Murray and Carl Davies in their squad for the first time. There was no game for Eversley & California who’s Friday night fixture with Jersey Bulls was postponed.

Two Berkshire sides are in the hat for the Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round draw after Bracknell Town and Slough Town both advanced. Dave Wright’s full Bracknell report is here.

For the Robins, it was a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Marlow following a 2-2 draw in normal time that saw the Buckinghamshire side come back from 2-0 down while the Rebels got a modicum of revenge at Dartford following their Vanarama National League South play-off defeat in the summer with a late conversion from the penalty spot in stoppage time from Jack McKnight earning a 1-0 win.

Less good news for Hungerford Town who started the Danny Robinson era with a 4-0 defeat in Cornwall at Truro City.

The Pitching In Southern League South Division One fixtures saw Thatcham Town pick up another point on the road, this time in a 0-0 draw at Willand Rovers.

In the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division, Binfield’s Sean Moore struck twice to send the Moles top in a 2-0 win at Bishop’s Cleeve – making the most of more points dropped by expected title challengers Westfields who drew 1-1 at home to Brimscombe & Thrupp.

Reading City’s unbeaten start to the season ended with a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to bottom side Shrivenham – Josh Blackwood on the scoresheet for the Cityzens, while it was last-minute heartbreak for Windsor, beaten with the last kick of the game at Fairford Town despite twice leading the home side through a Corey Parchment double.

In Division One East, only a handful of ties escaped the weather with Chalvey Sports continuing their good run, beating AFC Aldermaston 1-0 at Arbour Park thanks to a Garluha Sandy goal while Wallingford Town were beaten 2-0 at home by Milton United.
