Billy Montague completed a first half comeback for Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division Windsor on Saturday as the Royalists earned their first points of the season against Burnham.

Windsor, without a point after two games going into Saturday’s fixture at Stag Meadow reacted quickly after Joe Blount gave the visitors the lead with Sam Coles scoring in the 29th minute and Montague firing home on the 41st.

Manager Mark Cooper, speaking to the club’s Twitter account said: “Great to get back to winning ways yesterday after a really tough couple of weeks. Superb all-round team performance which is something we’ve not had since the win at Aylesbury.

“Delighted to see so many supporters there yesterday and so glad that they finally had something to be pleased with. Need to be at it again Tuesday for another local derby”.

Elsewhere in the Hellenic Premier, Reading City and Binfield were both held to 1-1 draws, the former at home to Lydney Town – a game that saw the Cityzens reduced to 10-men when Michael Butcher was sent off in the 66th minute, seven minutes after Nathan Jones had got the opener.

For Binfield, it was a point earned on the road at Longlevens in a game that saw striker Adam Cornell don the gloves when goalkeeper Chris Grace was sin-binned. The Moles had led through Elliott Legg but the home side levelled just before the break and that’s how it stayed.

Virginia Water suffered a second defeat in a row, this time away to Ardley United who beat the Waters 2-0.

In Division One East, Holyport got back to winning ways after a heavy midweek defeat to Wokingham & Emmbrook with a 2-1 win over Kidlington Reserves at Summerleaze thanks to goals from Dan Rapley and Andy Forisky.

The Sumas keep on scoring though with Jake White taking his season total to nine after he scored both goals in a 2-0 home win against Thame Rangers.

Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League

In the Combined Counties League Premier Division, Ascot United suffered a shock when they were beaten 3-0 by Hanworth Villa who saw goals come from Sam Merson and a Brandon Brazey double.

Sandhurst Town earned their first points of the season in Division One with a 2-0 win over Dorking Wanderers Reserves thanks to goals from Alex Dedame and Joao Jardim while a late flourish couldn’t salvage anything for Eversley & California as they were beaten 3-2 at Chessington & Hook United. The Boars goals came from Ross McKernan and Joe Pantony.
