Berks County return to top of Thames Valley Premier League

Storm Jorge ensured that the majority of football in the Berkshire area was called off on Saturday. However, Berks County who play on an artificial surface at Ryeish Green Sports Hub had no such bother as they faced second from bottom Windlesham United.

A solitary strike from former Bracknell Town forward Ebeneezer Opuko-Ware was enough to hand Berks County all three points and a place at the top of the Thames Valley Premier League.

Berks County are now above Westwood Wanderers on goal difference having played a game more.

County have a chance to extend their lead at the top of the division next Saturday when they travel to Mortimer in a league fixture. Westwood Wanderers are in cup action at Finchampstead on the same afternoon.

Berks County have eight fixtures remaining, while Westwood Wanderers have seven. The Swords still need to travel to face Westwood before the season is over, so the title is still very much up for grabs as we enter March.
