We didn’t exactly see this coming after two tight ties between Ascot United and Abbey Rangers this season – 2-1 and 2-2 in two fixtures.
But Jamie Tompkins blasted aside the Surrey side with a 7-0 win at the Racecourse Ground after Jonny Denton opened the scoring after just four minutes.
Ian Davies then scored twice to make it 3-0 at half time and the goals then flowed from make shift defender Harry Laflin – playing at the back due to a shortage of centre backs for the Yellamen – with Ben Hodges, Davies completing his hat trick and a debut goal from Aiden Higgs completed the rout.

Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Cup
Football in Berkshire’s featured game was over at the Stacatruc Stadium as Thatcham Town hosted West Berkshire neighbours Hungerford Town in the Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Cup in front of a good crowd of 361.
It was the Vanarama National League South visitors who took the early initiative when veteran striker James Constable scored after eight minutes.
Thatcham arguably had the better chances through the first half with Kyle Tooze in particular looking dangerous, but they had the wind knocked out of them when captain Taofiq Olomowewe made it 2-0 after goalkeeper Archie Matthews had made a good save.

An absolute highlight of the second half was the battle between Constable and former Hungerford and Bracknell Town veteran centre back Matty Day who looked impressive all evening.
It was all over though when full back Joe Tomlinson raced through and produced the classiest goal of the night, picking up the rebound from a chance he created and slotting home around Matthews from a tight angle.
Minutes later though Tomlinson is through, one v one he hits the keeper and turns the rebound in from a tight angle. Thatcham 0-3 Hungerford. pic.twitter.com/XVtnZC7cdA

Also in the County Cup on Tuesday night, Windsor were beaten 6-5 on penalties by Marlow after a 1-1 draw in normal time when the Royalists Charlie Macaskill had equalised Marcus Mealing’s opener.
Combined Counties League
Lastly, but by no means leastly (if that’s a word) in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Division One tie between Walton & Hersham and Sandhurst Town, it was the late late show as goalkeeper Andy Rider bagged an injury time leveller in a 2-2 draw at the Swans.
Walton lead 1-0 at half time and the Fizzers were reduced to ten men in the 50th minute for a second bookable offence but eight minutes later they were level when Danny Horscroft rounded the goalkeeper.
The home side went ahead again but after 44 minutes with a man down, Rider fired home from a last minute corner to level.
90+3 – IT’S 2-2 AND IT’S THE FIZZERS GOALKEEPER WHO GETS IT!!!!
