It took two goals in extra time but Binfield overcame neighbours Ascot United on Tuesday night to reach the final of the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup for the second season in a row.

Last season the Moles beat Thatcham Town to lift the trophy and this season will face Ardley United at Fairford Town on Tuesday 9th April.

Ascot United played over 70 minutes of the tie with 10 men after Elliott Carey was sent off in the 37th minute and Binfield led 1-0 at the half time break through Ian Davies.

A downpour at half time meant there was some work to do on the Racecourse Ground pitch but the game did get underway again with Kassim Luqman levelling things up on the hour and the game moved in to extra time.

Parity didn’t last long though, second half substitute Eddie Lee broke the deadlock on 92 minutes and Sean Moore made sure of Binfield’s progress on 106.
