A former England international in the dug out wasn’t enough to stop Burnham falling to a a third successive Hellenic Premier League at the hands of rampant Binfield on Monday night.
Jean-Claude Etienne and Liam Ferdinand had given Binfield a 2-0 lead before the visitors mustered their first shot on target 67 minutes into the game.
Etienne had the ball in the net after 10 minutes following a cross from full-back Jake White while new signing Asa Povey should’ve had a debut goal on 20 minutes but his shot was blocked. Ferdinand doubled the lead on 34 minutes holding off Mwetawima to fire home.

Courtney Lawrence was the man with Burnham’s first shot but former Ascot United midfielder Ross Seldon wrapped things up for Binfield three minutes later when he scored from a free kick and their could have been a fourth in injury time but Binfield’s forward line saw the effort flash past the post.

That fourth did come in the 7th minute of injury time though. Burnham with ten men after having a man stretchered off and no substitutes left gave Ferdinand and opportunity and he obliged with his fifth of the season finishing off a scrappy move to send the Moles supporters home happy.
Post match, our man at the game Darrell Freeland said: “This was very comfortable for Binfield, I was a goal out with my prediction but Burnham looked okay with ten players. I hope the lad that was stretchered off player is okay”.
