VOLUNTEER OF THE SEASON
Sponsor Supporters Trust at Reading

Boost their chances:

Angy King is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Clive McNelly Volunteer of the Season sponsored by Supporters Trust at Reading.

One nomination for the award said: “Angy King has been the sports chaplain for Reading FC Women and the girls’ pathway for nine seasons now, she also coordinates all the other chaplains nationally across women’s football. On a weekly basis, Angy gives up her time on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening to attend training for all age groups (U10 to Women’s First Team) and Sundays to attend the women’s matches. She offers pastoral support for all players, staff and parents, helping individuals deal with injury, bereavement, family breakdown etc. She is an absolute diamond and we would love her to be recognised for all the amazing work she has done!”

Another added: “We are nominating Angy for Volunteer of the Year because she is, without a doubt, the heart of our club. She gives everything she has to us—her time, her energy, her support, and her love—without ever asking for anything in return. Angy is at every training session and every game, no matter the distance or conditions, and always goes the extra mile to make sure every single person feels cared for and valued. She’s more than a volunteer—she’s a mentor, a role model, and a constant source of positivity and strength. Her dedication over the years has helped shape the spirit of our club and brought countless people together. Simply put, we would not be where we are without her. She is one of a kind, and this award would be a small but deeply meaningful way to recognise the incredible impact she has made on all of us. Angy deserves this—she is the very best of what football, and community, should be.”

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED!

Yes! The awards are taking place at the marvellous Double-Barrelled Brewery in Reading and we’ll have food available. Tickets will be limited but on sale from 28th May. If you’d like to know when, so you don’t miss out, make sure you’ve signed up to our email newsletter here.

Scroll down to the bottom of this article for the nomination form. Before you do that though, here’s what the judging panel are looking for when choosing the shortlist.

What’s the story? Tell us exactly why the person or place should be considered. We hate to get all ‘X Factor journey’ on you but the more detail you can include, the better we can argue for your nominee for the short list.

The sort of details we love to see include things like player awards, goals, clean sheets and any other significant contributions to the footballing community – obviously within the 2024/25 season.

We’ll publish all the nominees for the Berkshire Football Awards as we receive them.

You can view all the 2025 nominees so far here.

Want to know who’s previously won what at the Berkshire Football Awards? There’s a big long page with all the previous winners here.

Nominations will be open until midday on Monday 26th May 2025.

The Long List will be published on Wednesday 28th May and the Short List on Friday 30th May.

Once the nomination window has closed, the nominations in each category will be put before a panel of judges for a decision, the top four announced online and the winners at the awards night on Wednesday 18th June.

We will accept nominations for people out of area, the only prerequisite is that the reason for nomination is that it must be because of an affiliation with a club we cover on Football in Berkshire (a full list is at the bottom of this page). We will present certificates and a trophy to the winners.

  • All nominations are done by you, the Berkshire footballing public
  • You can nominate as many people as you like for each award – the quantity of nominations counts for the judging panel..
  • That said, quality is just as important, the more detail you provide about why you are nominating, the better
  • Please try and avoid nominating your own family members
  • Due to difficulties in obtaining permissions under child protection laws we won’t consider any player under the age of 16 for nomination in any of the categories
