Liam Gilbert, former Reading FC Women boss, has secured a new role with Burnley.
Having spent five years with Oxford United, he secured a third place finish in the Southern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League in the 2022/23 before crossing borders and joining Reading.
He guided Reading – just relegated from the FA WSL and at the end of the Kelly Chambers era – to a season safe from relegation despite the clubs off field difficulties with a 10th place finish ahead of Lewes and Watford.
We are pleased to confirm the addition of Liam Gilbert to our backroom team, who joins as a First Team Coach.

This is Gilbert’s first appointment in football since Reading elected to demote themselves from the Championship to Tier 5 of the Women’s Football Pyramid last summer.
Burnley are currently fourth in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division with games in hand over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Stoke City in second and third.
