FA Trophy Quarter Finalists headed to Tadley Calleva

Tadley Calleva will welcome Vanarama National League and 2024/25 FA Trophy Quarter Finalists Aldershot Town to Barlows Park on Tuesday night.

It will be the second attempt to get the Hampshire Senior Cup Quarter Final tie played with the weather forcing a postponement last week.

Tadley have enjoyed some big nights and big crowds at Barlows in recent seasons, drawing Premier League side AFC Bournemouth at home in January 2022.

And while Vanarama National League Aldershot aren’t in the same bracket for support as the Cherries, the prospect of a new ground for away fans of the historic former Football League side, as well as the relatively short distance to travel should bump the numbers up over the turnstile.

As with most County Cups, it would be expected that a youthful Shots side may turn out at Tadley but there are suggestions the Shots are putting some focus on their cup exploits – particularly after reaching the Quarter Finals of the FA Trophy on Saturday.

The Shots league form certainly belies a lowly league position in what must count as one of the toughest division’s in English football – that much we know from following Maidenhead United year after year.

Certainly the draw specialists over the last few matches with five in six, Aldeshot did register one win away at Oldham Athletic in that spell.

Tadley’s Combined Counties League Premier Division South form meanwhile has seen two defeats to Jersey Bulls and Cobham following a 5-4 thriller win at Sandhurst Town in mid-January. The Romans play-off hopes have certainly been dented but they have games in hand on the teams around them
