It’s been an odd season in the Thames Valley Premier League. As we enter 2025 the destiny of the title is far from certain. Clubs down all the way down to Reading YMCA in 10th place still have a potential opportunity to secure the league championship in 2025.
What sums up the beauty of the division is the record of bottom club Newbury. They’ve only managed to secure one win this season, unbelievably this was against the club at the top of the division, Maidenhead Town.
Second-placed Wargrave have had a solid season; however, their goal difference is bizarrely minus two as they’ve endured heavy losses, an 8-2 to Maidenhead Town and a 10-0 to Woodcote. The cliche “all to play for” may be overused, but in the Thames Valley, it’s surely true.

On Saturday Newbury will host Reading City U23s in the league. Both clubs have had tough seasons and are currently bottom and second bottom of the division.
Elsewhere in cup action there are three Thames Valley League clubs in the Charles Twelftree Trophy Quarter Finals. There’s a huge tie at Bisham Abbey where Maidenhead Town host Finchampstead, while Westwood Wanderers will welcome East Berkshire League club Old Windsor who knocked out last seasons winners Burghfield on penalties in the Second Round.
