Vanarama National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town have parted company with manager Bobby Wilkinson.

The Tudors had started the season in typical Wilkinson fashion – like a juggernaut – and were top of the table by game seven – a 4-2 win over Welling United, and ended Slough Town’s year long unbeaten home run with a 1-0 win in game eight.

From there though it all seemed to go wrong. A surprise FA Cup defeat to Southern League Premier Division Central Bishop’s Stortford was the first of a 15 game streak that saw two draws and 13 defeats follow – including a 7-1 defeat by Dorking Wanderers.

In a statement released on the club website, the Tudors board acknowledged the impact and challenges injuries had had on the former Bracknell Town and Hungerford Town boss’s squad: “The club would like to put on record our thanks for the hard work that Bobby has put into the club over his time here, the strong start to the season created some great memories for our fans.

“The club acknowledges the impact that injuries have had on the squad and the challenges that this created.

“We wish Bobby and his management team all the best in their future careers.

“Following his departure, Bobby would like to put on his record his thanks to everyone at the football club, the Chairman, Committee and most importantly the fans who have supported him through these very challenging last six weeks.”
