Vanarama National League Bromley are the newest member of the Football League 92, thanks in no small part to the heroics of Berkshire-born goalkeeper Grant Smith.

Reading-born Smith saved Solihull Moors opening two penalties in a shootout that Bromley won 4-3 after the game finished 2-2 at Wembley Stadium.

Grant previously played in the Football League with Lincoln City and is now headed back after helping Bromley – who finished third behind Barnet – to the promised land for the first time in the club’s history.

The goalkeeper was capped by England C in 2017/18 while playing for Boreham Wood and this season he played in the ‘C’ international against Wales.

Grant – who played youth football for Reading, Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion – is the brother of former Highmoor IBIS, Bracknell Town and AFC Aldermaston goalkeeper Dan Smith.
