Ex QPR boss Gareth Ainsworth in frame for Chelsea role

Former QPR and Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth has been linked with a top FA WSL role according to reports.

The Bucks Free Press has exclusively revealed that Ainsworth has been linked with the role at Chelsea Women which will be vacant in the summer when Emma Hayes takes over the US women’s national team.

According to the report – which doesn’t specify who has linked him with the role – Gareth Ainsworth is ‘currently taking a break from football management and has decided to focus on his music career, but a return to the dugout is not off the cards’.

The report also says that other names touted for the job include Carla Ward (Aston Villa), Casey Stoney (San Diego Wave), Laura Harvey (OL Reign) and Amandine Miquel (Reims).

Ainsworth recently appeared on stage at Bracknell’s Acoustic Couch as part of a festive Christmas Party.
