Maidenhead United’s Tanya Davis-Hussain is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Volunteer of the Season sponsored by Shorts Group.
The nomination we received for this award said: “A Maidonian by birth, Tanya has contributed and continues to contribute towards youth and women’s football in Maidenhead. Having previously been involved with the Maidenhead Boys and Girls committee for many years, Tanya is now Treasurer at Maidenhead United Juniors. Aside from keeping her watchful eye on the accounts, Tanya has also taken responsibility for the mammoth task of coordinating kit for over 600 players and equipment for more than 50 teams. Tanya is also treasurer for Maidenhead United Women and a trustee of the club’s Community Trust. Since becoming involved with MUWFC, Tanya has worked tirelessly in the recruitment of coaching staff, secured sponsorship deals and lobbied successfully for improved match-day experiences for Maidenhead United’s female players. It is no exaggeration to say that without Tanya’s tenacity and commitment, Maidenhead United may not have had a women’s team to compete in the 2022/23 season at all never mind one which has enjoyed a remarkable second half of the season to secure its FA Women’s National League status. When not working tirelessly in youth football and in women’s football – whilst also juggling a football-mad family of boys – Tanya also coordinates the provision of match day entertainment for children on a York Road home game, also arranging for young mascots to have the opportunity to tread the hallowed turf and meet their heroes. Modest Tanya is quite simply irreplaceable and she is an example to all non-league volunteers in terms of proving what can be achieved with dedication and hard work. Youth and women’s football at Maidenhead United looks bright thanks to Tanya’s continuing involvement.”

Scroll down to the bottom of this article for the nomination form. Before you do that though, here’s what the judging panel are looking for when choosing the shortlist.
What’s the story? Tell us exactly why the person or place should be considered. We hate to get all ‘X Factor journey’ on you but the more detail you can include, the better we can argue for your nominee for the short list.
The sort of details we love to see include things like player awards, goals, clean sheets and any other significant contributions to the footballing community – obviously within the 2022/23 season.
There have already been hundreds of nominations for the 2023 awards, we’ve published a lot but still have a lot more to do!
You can view all the 2023 nominees so far here.
Want to know who’s previously won what at the Berkshire Football Awards? There’s a big long page with all the previous winners here.
Nominations will be open until midnight on Wednesday 31st May 2023.
The Long List will be published on Friday 2nd June and the Short List on Monday 5th June.
Once that date has passed the nominations in each category will be put before a panel of judges for a decision, the top three announced online and the winners at the awards night on Wednesday 21st June.
We will accept nominations for people out of area, the only prerequisite is that the reason for nomination is that it must be because of an affiliation with a club we cover on Football in Berkshire (a full list is at the bottom of this page). We will present certificates and a trophy to the winners.
- You can nominate as many people as you like for each award
- Please try and avoid nominating your own family members.
- Due to difficulties in obtaining permissions under child protection laws we won’t consider any player under the age of 16 for nomination in any of the categories
