It took two late goals but Ascot United lifted the Southern Region Women’s League Cup on Sunday at Scours Lane in Reading.

The Yellas beat Eastleigh in the Community 2-0 courtesy of an 85th-minute strike from Nicole Brown and an injury-time goal from Hannah Bennett.

That injury time goal came in the 10th minute of time added on following an injury to Ascot’s captain Sarah Davern which it was later confirmed was a broken foot.

That certainly didn’t stop her joining in the celebrations though.

There was further plaudits for the Yellas as goalkeeper Lucie White was selected by the League as ‘Player of the Match’ following the game.
