Reading City took a point from a ‘full blooded football’ match on Tuesday night in a 1-1 draw with Flackwell Heath in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North.

The two sides are involved in a race for second place and a shot at an inter-league promotion play-off at the end of the season with the Cityzens having the edge over the Heathens in the league table.

City boss Simon Johnson said post match: “Proper game of full blooded football that. Another point in the right direction. 7 cup finals to go.”

Reading – in second – have a game in hand and four points on third placed Flackwell so avoiding defeat was a minimum requirement for the fixture and they lead at half time through Eddie Lee with Callum Mapley equalising on 75 minutes.

All of Reading City’s forthcoming fixtures are here.

Across the county at Binfield, the Moles got their toes into the Isthmian League South Central Division One play-offs with a 4-2 win at home to South Park that started out very much ‘plain sailing’.

Goals from Connor Holland, Conor Lynch and George Winser put them 3-0 up before a 10 minute flourish from the visitors on 75 minutes saw the scream back into the game with two strikes.

Lynch however was on hand again to ease any nerves with his second of the evening – proving an astute signing for the run in by manager Garry Haylock.

The result see’s Binfield into the final play-off position with five games to go – but beware Hanworth Villa with a game in hand.

Elsewhere Berks County took charge of their own play-off destiny in the Combined Counties League Division One with a 4-0 win over Cove but there was bad news for Windsor (21 points) who slipped to the bottom of the Premier Division North without kicking a ball – Oxhey Jets (22 points) won their sixth game of the season to move up to 19th.

Both sides face a battle to stay in the division though with the bottom two relegated. Chalfont St Peter in 17th are on 26 points and Wokingham & Emmbrook in 18th are on 23.

All the midweek week results are here in full. Please note Bracknell Town’s Wednesday night trip to Truro City has been postponed.
