Tuesday night see’s Reading City go head-to-head with Ascot United at The Rivermoor in what is an early test of both side’s Combined Counties League Premier Division North title credentials.

City – the hosts – are top of the table after 15 games by two points from United who have a game in hand courtesy of their FA Vase exploits that saw them book a Fourth Round place on Saturday.

It’s important to note of course that we are still not at the half-way point of the season and there is still an awful lot of football to be played. There may even be other challengers with Egham Town not far behind and Flackwell Heath – as usual – making the running. But City and United have set the pace so far and City crucially, are yet to be beaten while Ascot have been beaten once but not drawn.

So something has to give on Tuesday evening – perhaps a bigger question will be how either side react in their next game following a possible defeat tonight – but in short, the division’s meanest two defences meet the two of the division’s most prolific attacks.

Like we say, something has to give. Buy tickets here.

How do you think the game will go? Will the Cityzens maintain their unbeaten run? Will the Yellamen emerge victorious? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below – from players to watch to score predictions.
