Easing back into the season with a couple of weekend talking points for you!
Maidenhead United’s new signing is a TikTok sensation
Alexis André Jr, remember the name! Maidenhead United’s new goalkeeper is a signing with a little bit of a difference for the Berkshire side.
Well, it’s highly unlikely that Alan Massey has 3,900,000 followers on TikTok.

According to the Maidenhead Advertiser, the 25-year-old ‘keeper has joined from relegated Dover Athletic where he made 12 appearances. The paper also says the ‘keeper appeared on Amazon Prime dating show ‘Lovestruck High’.
We’ve definitely seen Alan on that..
Brooke Chaplen has a new role at Reading FC Women
It was so sad to see Brooke’s career cut short at the end of last season, but on hanging up her boots Chaplen has been appointed General Manager of Reading FC Women with responsibility for day-to-day operations of the football club, providing support with personnel, finance and logistics.
Chaplen was forced to retire in April having received treatment for a bone tumour which thankfully has now been fully removed.
Speaking to the Reading FC website, Chaplen said: “When Kelly approached me with this opportunity, there was no doubt in my mind about it. I love this club, so having this chance to continue being here, I had to take it.
“It will certainly take some getting used to, but I’m raring to go and excited to get started.”
Hilltop promoted to Combined Counties League Premier Division North
There’s been a LOT written about the plight of Staines Town. It’s a bizarre series of events and circumstances that have led to the demise of the once National League South side and the envy of many of us in non-league football.
It looks like the Swans won’t compete at all next season and certainly, they aren’t going to be in the Combined Counties League following their Isthmian League relegation last season after it was confirmed losing play-off finalists in Division One, Hilltop would take their place.
If you want to know more about Staines Town, there’s a superb thread from the excellent @AgainstLeague3 on Twitter here.
Gareth Ainsworth remains a lovely bloke
We aren’t sure why this happened, but we were tipped the wink the wonderful Wycombe Wanderers boss was not just at the Eversley & California tournament on the weekend, he was coaching an under-15 team. Which is just great.
