Ascot United goalkeeper Lisa Phillips has been nominated for the Player of the Season (Female) category at the 2022 Eddie Stobart Berkshire Football Awards.
Phillips featured 20 times for the Yellawomen this season as Ascot finished a very creditable fourth in the Southern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division.
One nomination we received said: “Lisa has been outstanding for Ascot United this season. Constantly pulling out amazing saves and constantly keeping Ascot Ladies in games. She has adapted well to new players as well as adding playing out from the back with confidence! She has won player of the month and she has done an amazing job in helping ascot achieve their goals this season.”
Another added: “Lisa has been playing in the SRWFL Premier Division for over 10 years and probably closer to two decades, but her standards never slip as she has yet again been outstanding this season. Captain & Goalkeeper of Ascot United Ladies Lisa has been pivotal in the team’s most successful season in the SRWFL Premier Division. On numerous occasions at key points in games, Lisa produced top saves that would prove vital to securing another 3 points for Ascot plus 2 clean sheets in the Women’s FA Cup helped secure the team’s best run in the competition reaching the 1st Round proper. A dedicated trainer Lisa insists on being pushed to the limits by coach Jamie Ashdown to stay sharp and fully prepared for upcoming games. A model professional, a popular player in the squad always encouraging players on and off the pitch.”
