Windsor FC supporter Ian Dawson has picked up a Berkshire Football Awards nomination in the Ascot Sports Bar Supporter of the Season category.
As someone who, in a previous life, has regularly dressed up in a mascot costume, I can tell you it’s no picnic!
One nomination received said: “He’s been to every game this season, home and away. As the manager of the football club, I can tell you first-hand of the difference he has made with his positivity and support regardless of the result at Windsor FC.”
Another added: “Ian has gone to every Windsor FC game this season, rain or shine, home or away. Our season this year has been turbulent to say the least, despite this Ian gets behind the team every game. His passion and commitment is fantastic to see, after horrible away losses he is still there clapping the team off. He has also had previous spells as the club’s mascot ‘Scotty the Stag’ but he, unfortunately, had to stop. He is fully deserving of the award and I couldn’t think of a better winner.”
A third simply added: “This supporter never misses a game come rain or shine sleat or snow and gives huge encouragement and support off the pitch to the players individually as well.”
