Kelly Chambers confirmed during the Brighton pre-match conference that Brooke Chaplen was undergoing surgery after it was confirmed by the club that a tumour had been found in the bone of her right leg.
Chaplen posted a thank you to her personal Instagram account which reads “The past week has been incredibly overwhelming for me and my family for obvious reasons. But, the amount of people who have reached out to me has been astounding. I honestly can’t thank everyone enough for their kind words and messages of support. The women’s football family has a huge heart and comes together beautifully in times like these. I hope you all know how grateful I am for each and every one of your texts, comments, flowers, and messages!”
She also provided an update on how her surgery went “I underwent surgery [today] to have the bone tumour removed and I am recovering nicely for all of those who have messaged to ask. This is just the start but having it removed has been a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.”
She also joked about how “my house looks bloody amazing filled with so many flowers so thank you!”
There has been an outpouring of support and love from fellow and former team-mates on the post including Fara Williams and Toni Duggan. We wish Brooke the best of luck with her recovery.
