Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division One side Bracknell Town look set to be without one of their most important players for a significant amount of time after Joe Grant revealed the extent of an injury that forced him off in the home game with Uxbridge.
Bracknell won the game 1-0, but the injury to Grant was a big blow for Bobby Wilkinson’s side, and now the forward has confirmed the injury was a ‘ruptured ACL’ that will require reconstruction.
In a post on Twitter, Grant said: “Update – following my injury against Uxbridge, unfortunately, I have ruptured my ACL and therefore need reconstruction in my knee.
“Obviously I’m absolutely gutted for many reasons, especially not being able to play the game I love and help the team towards a successful season.
“It’s going to be a long and difficult journey, both physically and mentally, but these things happen for a reason and I’m ready for the challenge.”
The forward had already scored three times this season for Bracknell, including a double that helped the Robins to victory in the derby against Binfield, and has – bar a season away from Larges Lane with Slough Town and Hayes & Yeading United – been an ever-present member of the squad since joining from Ascot United in the summer of 2016.
