Our women’s football correspondent, Abi Ticehurst, caught up with players from across the county after game week two of the 2021/22 season. Here’s what they had to say as part of our new Full Time Thoughts feature.

Guildford Saints Ladies 1-6 Ascot United Ladies Reserves

Ascot United Reserves compete in Division Three South of the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League.

A great start to the season winning 6-1. great team performance despite having lots of new players join. When in possession the passing through the field was brilliant. Team spirits are high and really looking forward to our next fixture and hoping the form continues. Also a big thanks to Guildford for hosting today and best of luck for the rest of the season.

Overjoyed with all my team mates in today’s FA Cup game! Everyone gave 100% and the result shows how much we wanted it! No cards for me this game! Come on the Goats!

Stanford-in-the-Vale Women 0-3 Shinfield Rangers Women

Shinfield Rangers Women play in the Development Division of the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League.

First game of the season for us and we knew it would be a battle. A bit of inspiration and great team selection from the manager and we were off. Great energy and some brilliant breaks from the get go. Had lots of missed chances but we kept the pressure on. From one disallowed goal and free kick just over the bar, we were still so desperate for the opening goal. Half time break hit and spirits were still high. An early goal in the second half set us on a sudden urge of hunger. We played absolutely brilliant and kept them in their own half. Any chances they had were battled and cut out by are strong defensive unit. Followed by another two goals and we had the win under our belt. 3-0 to Shinfield Ladies. Brilliant way to kick off the season!
