Concern was the order of the evening at the Rivermoor as a Combined Counties League Premier Division North fixture was abandoned on Tuesday night.

Reading City vs Holyport was cancelled after a head injury sustained by Ports Matt Ensby in the first half.

The long-serving Ensby, a full-back with over 150 appearances for the club, was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital and the decision was taken to abandon the game with City winning 2-0.

A statement released by Holyport on Twitter revealed the player had been discharged from hospital on Wednesday morning: “Good news this morning as Matt Ensby was released from hospital at 3 am following all clear X-Ray results, now time to rest up and follow protocols for head injuries.”

City tweeted after the game: “Everyone at Reading City Football Club would like to wish the injured player a quick and full recovery following tonight’s incident, which resulted in the game being abandoned.”

The Football in Berkshire team would like to wish Matt a speedy recovery.
