Grace Moloney received two very well deserved awards for her fine form over the past season. She was awarded the Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year trophies at the club’s end of season day.
Moloney has impressed for Reading this term with some superb displays in goal for the club. Her form has also impressed the Republic of Ireland selectors who have finally given her a chance to shine at senior international level.
The only thing stopping Moloney winning all three awards on offer was that the third award was for top goalscorer. Although this came from an unlikely source as Rachel Rowe scooped the award with her five goals this season. Rowe has often been deployed as full-back in past seasons but her doggedness and versatility have shown through this year as she has often been selected in a more attacking roles.
The Welsh international who scored her first and only goal for her country in their win against Kazakhstan in October 2019 will surely be delighted to win an award over clubmates of the quality of Fara Williams and Danielle Carter.
