Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division One side Bracknell Town made club history on Tuesday night after beating Salisbury 1-0 in the First Round.

It is the Robins 14th season competing in the Trophy but the first time the club has reached the Second Round having appeared in the first round four times – including 2004/05 when they faced eventual finalists Hucknall Town.

Salisbury, a division higher in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, reached the Second Round themselves last season but there was to be no repeat after Scott Rees scored the only goal of the game after 17 minutes of the first half.

The Robins reported: “Moore gets free down the left, makes his way into the whites box, cuts the ball back for Scott Rees on the edge of the box and he makes no mistake finding the back of the net!”

The Whites, managed by former Football League journeyman Steve Claridge, couldn’t get an equaliser past Mark Scott in the second half, the former Salisbury stopper pulling off a superb stop with 15 minutes remaining but it was Joe Grant who had a chance to settle things with nine to go, only to see his strike roll the wrong side of the post.

The Second Round is due to take place on Tuesday 15th December. The draw is yet to take place.
