Three to Watch: A trio of Berkshire battles as football is back.

Three games to look out for on Sunday including Ascot United, Eversley & California, AFC Henley and Wokingham & Emmbrook Ladies.

A weekly highlight of the big Berkshire women’s games you’ll want to keep an eye out each week for according to our women’s football correspondent Abi Ticehurst.

One from the Southern Region Women’s Football League, and two from the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League.

1. Newbury Ladies vs Ascot United Ladies

Southern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division

This one’s not a table clash, but it is Berkshire vs Berkshire. Both teams have played 3 league matches this season, after being knocked out of the FA Cup earlier in the season. Newbury find themselves bottom of the division after losing all three of their opening games so will be keen to get some points on the board. Meanwhile, Ascot sit middle of the table with one win and two losses to their name. With so few games played so far in this division, it really is all to play for for teams right now.

Donnington Recreation Ground, RG14 2LD, Sunday, 2pm. Please check with the host club before travelling.

2. Eversley & California Ladies vs Wokingham & Emmbrook Ladies

Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League Division 1

Another Berkshire clash here and an 8th versus 7th battle on the cards. With four points from three for Eversley and California, they’ll be keen to make the most of the home advantage and nudge their way past Wokingham & Emmbrook in this fixture. Wokingham and Emmbrook have seen 17 goals put past them already this season, so they’ll be wanting to tighten their defensive tactics as they go into the restart this weekend.

Eversley Sports Association, RG27 0NS, Sunday, 2pm. Please check with the host club before travelling.

3. AFC Henley Ladies vs Shinfield Rangers

Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League Development Division

Another Berkshire v Berkshire fixture. Both teams hovering at the bottom of the table on 7 points a piece with everything to play for, only Wycombe Saints Ladies find themselves lower down on 1 point. Hannah Palmer with 5 goals, a third of their goal total, to her name so far for Henley will surely be wanting to add more to her tally, whilst Nadia Lobato will be expecting much the same for Shinfield.

Jubilee Park, RG9 4HA, Sunday, 2pm. Please check with the host club before travelling.

Good luck to all the teams in action today across the county. You can see the full list of women’s fixtures here.
