It wasn’t the afternoon Slough Town were hoping for on Saturday – their unbeaten home run this season came to and end at the hands of Maidstone United, but Rebels fans did at least get to revel in a terrific strike from Paul Hodges.
The Rebels, who’s game on Tuesday night at Chippenham was postponed due to Covid-19 precautions, were beaten 3-2 after a late winner from the Stones George at Arbour Park.
Hodges, the former Woking striker, scored twice for Slough, his second on 55 minutes to equalise goals from Scott Rendell and Porter was a close-range conversion from Dan Roberts cross, but it’s the first that deserves a little attention.
The goal, a lovely loft over the Stones goalkeeper Ravan Constable from 20-25 yards after a knockback from Roberts got things going after just three minutes.
Next up for Slough, it’s a trip to Billericay Town in the Vanarama National League South – details of live streams and radio commentary will be posted here when available.
