Boost their chances:

Thames Valley Premier League Division One side Reading YMCA have been on a rebuilding program over the last few seasons with one man, Brian Baggaley, making a mark for the club on social media amongst several other roles at the club.

YMCA, five time winners of the TVPL top tier, including three in a row between 2015 and 2018, but were forced to resign their senior team from the competition last season – thought the clubs ‘Rapids’ side did complete the season.

Berkshire Football Awards supported by PlaySport.

According to the nomination for the Berkshire Football Awards – Volunteer of the Season we received: “Brian joined up to YM in Feb 2019 initially just to take a team picture for us to use on our social media. Brian fell in love with the club and was turning up every week to take match photos as his passion is photography. Brian then joined our committee and helped take over the social media channels creating some of the best local imagery with his graphics leading to a huge increase in engagement. He then brought his wife on board to be club treasurer and they both help run our match day bar for all home games. Brian was instrumental in organising our quiz night which raised £2000 to help towards the club. Brian is so passionate about football and has become the heartbeat of our committee and created a platform for the club to rebuild. He has no playing history or links to YM so his commitment and passion has given everyone involved the drive to match his!

Does Brian deserve the Volunteer of the Season award? Do you have someone else in mind. Let us know in the form below.

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED!

Yes! The awards are taking place at the marvellous Double-Barrelled Brewery in Reading and we’ll have food available. Tickets will be limited but on sale from 28th May. If you’d like to know when, so you don’t miss out, make sure you’ve signed up to our email newsletter here.

Scroll down to the bottom of this article for the nomination form. Before you do that though, here’s what the judging panel are looking for when choosing the shortlist.

What’s the story? Tell us exactly why the person or place should be considered. We hate to get all ‘X Factor journey’ on you but the more detail you can include, the better we can argue for your nominee for the short list.

The sort of details we love to see include things like player awards, goals, clean sheets and any other significant contributions to the footballing community – obviously within the 2024/25 season.

We’ll publish all the nominees for the Berkshire Football Awards as we receive them.

You can view all the 2025 nominees so far here.

Want to know who’s previously won what at the Berkshire Football Awards? There’s a big long page with all the previous winners here.

Nominations will be open until midday on Monday 26th May 2025.

The Long List will be published on Wednesday 28th May and the Short List on Friday 30th May.

Once the nomination window has closed, the nominations in each category will be put before a panel of judges for a decision, the top four announced online and the winners at the awards night on Wednesday 18th June.

We will accept nominations for people out of area, the only prerequisite is that the reason for nomination is that it must be because of an affiliation with a club we cover on Football in Berkshire (a full list is at the bottom of this page). We will present certificates and a trophy to the winners.

  • All nominations are done by you, the Berkshire footballing public
  • You can nominate as many people as you like for each award – the quantity of nominations counts for the judging panel..
  • That said, quality is just as important, the more detail you provide about why you are nominating, the better
  • Please try and avoid nominating your own family members
  • Due to difficulties in obtaining permissions under child protection laws we won’t consider any player under the age of 16 for nomination in any of the categories
