The new name in Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division football might ‘just’ be a rebrand, but Reading City appear to be preparing to allow their football to do the talking this season.
If you can get past the fact they are named ‘City’ – it is just a name – then the club are certainly pulling together a strong looking squad.
Following social media in the last week suggests that a top half finish for Reading City should be the minimum aspiration and in managers Andy Findlay and Rob Creech they have a duo with the contacts capable of delivering.
Striker Mitchell Parker scored 25 goals last season for struggling Highmoor Ibis while experienced centre back Gareth Brown should add some steel and know how at the back.
That will certainly be tested early on in the season with fixtures against newcomers Shrivenham and Binfield among the five confirmed ties that include the FA Cup and FA Vase.
