Sam Barratt has been officially unveiled as a Southend United player after joining the EFL League One club from National League Maidenhead United.
The announcement on the Shrimpers official website states Barratt has signed a one-year contract with the club: “The 22-year-old winger joins for an undisclosed fee from the Vanarama National League side.
“Barratt has signed a one-year contract which includes the option of a second and becomes Chris Powell’s first signing of the summer.”

Speaking to the Southend Echo, Barratt said: “I can’t really explain in words just how excited I am about this opportunity and how hungry I am to make it work.
“It’s my first professional club and it’s what I’ve always wanted.
“I can’t wait for pre-season to come around and to start working towards next season because this is the chance I’ve been waiting for.”
