Joe Grant and George Lock take on Reading Half Marathon on Sunday

Both players are running to raise money for very worthy causes

Bracknell Town winger Joe Grant and Ascot United full back George Lock will both line up for the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday.

George came through the ranks at Bracknell Town before joining Ascot this season and is raising money for Sebastian’s Action Trust by completing both the Reading and Bracknell half marathons.

George said on his JustGiving page which you can see here: “I am rising money for Sebastian’s Action Trust as an exceptionally close friend of mine is about to fight cancer for the third time at just 19.

“During my friends first battle with cancer he was placed in the same hospital as Sebastian himself, and has worked with the charity since. So once I signed up for both half marathons I ensured I ran for the charity of his choice.

Joe, unlike George will have to play 90 minutes of football on Saturday before heading to Reading.

He said on his JustGiving page: “I’m supporting Sarcoma UK, the only cancer charity in the UK focused on all types of sarcoma. Sarcoma is a cancer of the bone and soft tissue. It is one of the hardest to diagnose, and difficult to treat.

“We can help change this. By donating to my page, you will fund vital research projects looking for better treatments. Your donation will also raise awareness of the symptoms of sarcoma to help patients get an early diagnosis, and ensure everyone has access to specialist advice.”

At the time of writing George was 80% to his £1,000 target while Joe’s total stands at £1,170.

If you are in a position to do so, then please consider donating to both or either of Joe and George’s very worth causes.
