Southern League Premier Division South Bracknell Town have announced managers Carl Withers and Jamie McClurg have departed.

Among their achievements, the duo lead the Robins to two FA Cup First Round ties and were within an extra time whisker of promotion to the Vanarama National League South at the end of last season.

A statement released by the club said: “Bracknell Town FC is saddened to announce that James and Carl have decided to step down from their positions as joint club managers. James and Carl have played a significant role in the club’s success, first as players in 2016, helping win promotion to step 4, and then as joint managers.

“James has recently decided to step down due to personal reasons. The club fully supports James’ decision and wishes him well in future endeavours. In November, James was involved in a serious car crash, which required him to take a leave of absence for recovery. Although he returned to his managerial duties after a recovery period, it has become apparent that he may have returned to football too soon. The club recognises the importance of prioritising the health and well-being of its staff and understands the need for individuals to have adequate time to recover fully.

“James’s stepping down has also prompted Carl to reevaluate his position. After careful consideration, Carl has decided that taking on the role alone, along with the pressures of work and life, is not something he wishes to do now.”

The club confirmed Academy manager Jordan Ive would lead the team through the festive period.
