Yateley United are officially floodlit as all the hard work paid off at Sean Devereux Park on Monday night.

The Hampshire side were promoted to the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Division One in the summer having won the Thames Valley Premier League at a canter.

But despite some already impressive facilities at the ground, from the club house to the playing surface – there was still some work to be done to meet the Step 6 ground grading requirements.

Football in Berkshire’s visit in August for Yateley’s FA Vase tie with Shortwood United showed visible signs of light, and now a few weeks later everything is connected and the floodlights went on for the first time on Monday night.

Club chairman Colin Ive wrote on Twitter: “It’s been a lot of work by a lot of dedicated volunteers over the past 13 years but with the club where it is today, and can be tomorrow, well, well worth it.”
