Berkshire side AFC Aldermaston will begin their new era in the Wessex League with a new manager as Marcus Richardson replaces David Tuttle.

Former Flackwell Heath boss Richardson took over the Atom Men at the start of July and is joined by Fabian Coultress and Louis King in the dug out.

Richardson is a well travelled former Football League striker hailing from Reading. He featured most prominently for Torquay United and Lincoln City at the start of his career before returning to Berkshire in the 2009 with Windsor & Eton and Reading Town.

He has led Highmoor IBIS and Flackwell as a manager, taking the latter to an FA Vase Quarter Final in 2020/21.

In a statement, chairman Martin Desay said: “We are extremely pleased to have obtained the services of Marcus and his team. They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the club, and have a proven track record of success at Step 6 and above.

“We look forward to the new challenge of Wessex League Football next season, and are very confident that Marcus and his team will build a squad of players that are more than able to compete and be successful going forward.”

The Atom Men remain as tenants of Thatcham Town for the 2023/24 season.
